On the morning of Thursday February 9th, I will be giving a talk at Saint John's Central College in Cork City to current graphic design, animation and illustration students. I will be discussing illustration and my experience's to date in the world of picture books. I would like to thank Fiona O'Mahony for inviting me along and I look forward to sharing my passion for illustration with the attendees.
I was rooting around at home today trying to find a few bits and pieces when I stumbled upon this photograph of a younger version of myself. I decided to upload it to my blog so that you can all see how much my illustration work has improved since then! The photograph was taken on Halloween night in 1994. Im dressed as a Vampire and proudly exhibiting my Halloween illustrations!
Currently my Ghost of Shandon in the gift shop of the Crawford Art Gallery in Cork are SOLD OUT. Id like to thank everyone that purchased a card.
Id also like to take this chance to thank both the Irish Comic News and UK comic website BleedingCool.com for highlighting the Ghost of Shandon and my Picture Book Illustration courses in recent weeks. Thanks for the support!
There is a sneak peek of the Ghost of Shandon in todays edition of the Cork Independent newspaper. I would like to thank journalist Christine Allen for writing such a lovely article to promote the book and my work! The support is very much appreciated. This is the latest book cover illustration for the Ghost of Shandon. It depicts the three main characters; Ronan, Aisling and the Duallachan. The 18th Century Saint Patrick's Bridge and Shandon Steeple are also illustrated with an actual map of Cork City from 1750 merged into the background. Over 50 illustrations have now been completed for the book and I have exactly 20 weeks to reach my deadline for the Ghost of Shandon. Im going to need all the coffee, H pencils and motivational speeches I can find!
